Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune - Review

Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune
Platform: PS3
Date Reviewed: February 16th

It is truly an odd thing that one of my favourite genres is action/adventure/puzzle games, when in reality it is one that I play so very little. Stranger even is the fact that the last one I can really remember enjoying was Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine, a game which does not deserve the respect I give. Looking back, my love for this game undoubtedly comes from my lust for all things Indiana Jones. Fallout 3 - Review

Fallout 3
Platform: PC
Date Reviewed: Near release, I forget.

Playtime: about two hours.
So I’ve played fallout 3 for a bit now and so far it is great. The introduction/training was really well done, and I really like the transition between the various ages. The combat is working out much better than I thought; it feels like a better mix of shooter and RPG than Mass Effect managed to be. The quests are interesting, and I’m finding this a much better experience than I found Oblivion. Maybe it is the setting, but I think the combat system Fallout 3 is working out much better than the spell system in Oblivion did. It’s time to go back to playing.
Playtime: around 6 hours.

Dead Space - Review

Dead Space
Platform played on: PS3
Date Reviewed: Near release, I forget

Calling Dead Space a survival horror game is in some ways inaccurate. The environment, sounds, and story of the game do less to instill a sense of fear and more to create a general feeling of isolation and dread. The majority of the game takes place on the Ishimura; a large spaceship which is almost entirely devoid of life by the time you arrive. The fact that you can look at the environment and see that there was once much activity in it goes to great lengths to intensify the feeling of isolation that you feel upon first being separated from your allies.
